Security guard held for murder of eight-year-old boy in Bengaluru

A 36-year-old security guard has been arrested for allegedly murdering an eight-year-old boy in a suspected act of revenge against his neighbours, the police said on Thursday.

The accused, identified as Chandeswar Matur, a native of Bihar, worked at an apartment complex in Rayasandra. The victim, Ramananda, also from Bihar, lived in the same locality with his family.

According to a senior police officer, the incident came to light when Ramananda went missing around 7 p.m. on Wednesday. His family began searching for him with the help of locals and suspected Chandeswar’s involvement, citing past quarrels with neighbours. “We questioned several people, including Chandeswar. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime and revealed that he had disposed of the body in Rayasandra lake,” the officer said.
