Pakistani military spokesperson issues a threat to India using language strikingly similar to that of Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Hafiz Saeed. Lt. General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry made the remarks while slamming India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty on May 22.

Chaudhry warned India, saying “If you stop the water, God willing, we will stop your breath, and then blood shall follow in these rivers.”His statement mirrors the hostile rhetoric used by Lashkar-e-Taiba founder Hafiz Saeed, known for his inflammatory speeches against India. In a video, doing the rounds on social media platform ‘X’, Hafiz Saeed can be heard saying those same words.

The Indus Waters Treaty, signed in 1960, governs the sharing of the Indus River and its tributaries between India and Pakistan.India’s suspension of parts of the treaty was part of countermeasures against Islamabad in the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack on April 22.Meanwhile, a Pakistani lawmaker urged PM Shehbaz Sharif to “defuse” the “water bomb” dropped by India.
