Kamal Haasan Addresses Media Ahead Of Thug Life Release Amid Controversy

A day after informing the Karnataka High Court about his decision not to release ‘Thug Life’ in Karnataka, Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan held a press conference alongside the cast of the Mani Ratnam directorial in Chennai. The interaction came amid backlash over his recent comment on the origin of the Kannada language, made during a promotional event for the film.

This marked Haasan’s first public appearance since the controversy erupted. Choosing not to delve into the matter directly, the veteran actor said he would speak “when the time is right,” opting to remain reserved in light of the court’s observations.

He thanked media for their support before shifting focus to Thug Life. Expressing admiration for the project, he said, “The cast of Thug Life seasoned and so many people have worked hard on this film. We have international artists and technicians on this film, and our artists and technicians have worked on par with them and won their praise.
